About the Database

The prosopographic database of Georgian Catholic missions has been created by the Institute of Linguistic Studies at the Ilia State University since 2022. Data on missionaries stored in various sources (archival document, letter, relation, etc.) in the database are structured according to the latest standards of digital humanities. Priority has therefore been afforded to achieving the greatest possible range and depth of coverage of the available primary sources and to making the data as accessible as possible in the way it is presented and structured through the trilingual web interface. The database structure is planned by a group of researchers of Digital Humanity Lab at the Institute of Linguistic Studies, led by Maia Damenia.
